Funnily enough 'The Trip' had three other competitors to be the oldest pub just in Nottingham! Two of them are still around, The Old Salutation and The Bell Inn (it's a beauty this one: http://stuartfrew.wordpress.com/2007/10/14/the-bell-inn-nottingham/ ). Another, the sadly lamented 'Flying Horse' is now a shopping mall - sacrilege!

hey, ‘Ye Olde Trip To Jerusalem’ deserves research from a visit too!! It's one of the three English pubs to lay the claim of being the world's oldest.

What an interesting story. I had thought that Nottingham laid a good claim to England/the world's oldest pub in 'Ye Olde Trip To Jerusalem' but this is a new one on me. I think it deserves some research from a visit!
